Mail Operations Supervisor

Description

The Mail Operations Supervisor manages and assigns other staff members’ workloads and assignments. This position provides responsive service to a variety of internal and external customers that support customer and program requirements.
 
The Supervisor is responsible for marketing paper sales at the Denver Federal Center in Denver, CO.

Additionally, the Mail Operations Supervisor will retrieve mail and packages for certain federal agencies within the Denver Federal Center from the nearest post office. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Pick up and deliver incoming USPS mail for six different agencies
• Process and record any incoming checks for BLM (Bureau of Land Management)
• Process incoming mail for BLM and deliver using prescribed tracking method (Pitney Bowes or tracking sheets) 
• Retrieve and deliver any outgoing mail from six (6) in-site agencies
o Adhere to delivery windows prescribed in standard operating procedures
• Process all outgoing mail for BLM
o All mail must have proper postage and be in ready by 3pm daily
• Process all outgoing mail and UPS (United Parcel Service) packages for GSA (General Services Administration) utilizing rate shop software 
• Contact agencies on a weekly basis concerning HHS (Health & Human Services) services and paper sales; deliver and track paper sales using prescribed tracking method (Pitney Bowes or tracking sheets)
• Track and schedule any maintenance/services necessary to keep courier vehicles roadworthy; maintain contact with GSA for scheduling vehicle upkeep
• Supervise employees to ensure a positive and effective work environment.  Maintain timekeeping and leave requests do not interfere with operations. 
• Fill in and manage the coverage of the two mailrooms when scheduled/unscheduled absences occur
• Account and record daily hours worked on electronic time card system at the end of each business day

This position requires the ability to make decisions based upon broad guidelines, practical experience and sound business judgments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Ability to lift and carry heavy items – up to 75lbs
* Physically fit. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
